I noticed a few egg clusters this morning in a size and shape I haven't seen before (which suggest to me that they're not from any of the various snails I've had in my system for years). I did, however, recently add my first sea urchin, a small purple one from Biota, so I'm curious if perhaps the urchin is responsible for these eggs.
I'm not certain how sea urchin reproduce, so please forgive my ignorance here. Are sea urchin capable of reproducing asexually? If these are indeed sea urchin eggs, is it possible they're viable? Or will they become a tasty snack for another part of the food chain?
Or worse, am I looking at eggs of something bad that I should remove promptly?
