Hi All
So a fellow reefer came to my place to buy a couple of corals from me. He noticed a snail on the glass and advised they were bad for a reef system. He told me these could potentially eat all types of corals.
Obviously had me pretty nervous since there is a fair amount of them in my tank. I thought they were actually good inverts and recently a lot of them since I did a sand change about a month ago.
Sorry for the bad pictures, but what do you think?

It's the small star looking snail. It's below and slightly left of the rastas. There is another one on the lower right part of the rock too.

Was hoping to get detailed shot of the underside since one was on the glass, but my phone sucks.

Should I be worried about these snails? I've seen these little fellas in a lot of reef systems so I didn't think anything negative of them.
Thanks!

Should've done more google research. Seems they are Asterina snails and indeed are known for eating corals. I just lost my 3 polyp utter chaos zoas....they must be the culprit :(

Is there anything I should do so these snails don't overpopulate?

They're asterina stars, not snails. There's suppose to be various types, some good some bad. If you don't want them a harlequin shrimp will eat them. Get one, deal with the stars, and pass on the shrimp

huge green/brown ones are bad... the ones that are okay will split once they get 5 legs on them... so they usually look like that... but i wouldn't take any chances... take them out whenever you see them... if you get an infestation, get a harlequin shrimp... but make sure you don't starve the shrimp...
