I'm going to regret saying this (not that any of it matters, anyway) but what happened to seeking qualified candidates who have the maturity, wisdom, experience and presence on the board to do this sort of thing?
I almost think I preferred the back channel appointments to this method.
(This is NOT a slam on ANYONE who has been nominated - it's just that this has looked more like a popularity contest than a serious search for someone to try to help keep things in check.)

I don't think it's been a "popularity" contest..................IMO any of the above 4 named members would make a good moderator. They are all mature, wise, experienced and are here quite often.
Sure sounds like a slam though..........................can't see how it can be taken anyway.......................

Are we foregoing the requirement to have to get THREE nominations from members since we seem to only have these few members who can possibly be nominated?? (with the modified requirements)
And btw: I wanted to say thanks to those that nominated me. I was very surprised by this, as I bet some others were too. (including the op of this thread
) Especially since i was the only one to meet and exceed the requirements and INTENT of the op and the need for change here. Your voices were heard loud and clear, and i assure you change would have been made, although I am sure change was/is inevitable...
It is unfortunate that the rule regarding banned people had to be implemented, although none of the other 'banned' people were actually nominated and or showed any interest). it appears the rule was designed for only one person.
It is more unfortunate that in my particular 'ban', the reasons for the ban were made up and ultimately due to my being baited once again... It is unfortunate that i allowed myself to be baited, but I did so under the impression that i did not have the support from the mods or you all (that i apparently do have...)
So, for mis-judging you and your perception of me and the points i have made, i truly apologize. I had unfortunately believed the vocal few into believing they were actually indicative of the majority when in fact it appears that a few bad apples does not spoil the entire bunch. And you are really good bunch of friends, and for that i thank you. (and i am sure the vocal few will scratch their heads in wonder just as i had done previously. Maybe someday they too will figure out who is on the inside and who is not, and give up on trying to convert the world and each other and show tolerance to others no matter what they may believe.)
Hopefully you have seen my current actions of ignoring certain people in the most strict definition of the word, has brought a peace to this site and every other site i am on...
It is due to your support that i recognized all of this. I hope to follow that path, and should i succumb to the relentlessness that has been shown before, i hope and count on you to remind me of the insignificance and futility of dealing with this small minority...
Thanks again for the votes of support, and now that richard is a contender, maybe i wont be excluded from his xmas party this year and i will see you then..????
