Hey Guys, I do have the the question verification installed as well as the timer...i guess this site is just attracting too many spammers

I heared that what attract the spammer is the poll, I just don't know if that is true

Well it has been an interesting read and so comical...As I see it all the sucking up is not part of the job requirement and yet there has been so much of it going on in this thread alone not to mention the pm's the mods have gotten... I also have seen the broken english in typing whether it maybe simple mistakes or not you Human Resources person has to be able to read, write or type proficiently in English...Like I stated, The job as a mod has specific purpose which unless you have been a mod elsewhere...YOU are not qualified...Maybe the original post should have asked for sites one has been a mod in order to weed out the applicants or nominee's that still have one clue.

None of the aforementioned was directed at any one person however everyone who was nominated or thought they wanted the job...I am not in anyway digging at the mod's or Mike, the comment was merely a suggestion and observation.

reading your post, I now learn a little bit more about you, after meeting you a few times, I was dead wrong about you. I hope I am wrong again.

Sorry that you have to read my broken english, bad grammar and many mistakes. I guess I am not good enough for you.

So what make Kenny and the other qualified for being a mod here ?...were they a mod somewhere else before here ?

Again sorry for the bad english. So I guess 100% in english speaking and writing are also required for being a mod here ?

The way I look this mod thing is that we all want to help support and improve this site; if Mike asked the member to nominate whoever they think is fit for the job, then let the members decide.

After 23 pages, I honestly don't care anymore. What is next...you have to be white to get the job ?

First - I was looking at this mod position is something that we all can help improve this site and making it better place for everyone. it was started out as fun for everyone, however after 23 pages it got to the point that members are attacking each other left and right.

Some of you need to come down on earth, it's just a small site with a handful of members. You don't need to be a rocket scientist or a BA/MBA to becoming a mod here.

The bottom line is that this site is like a small family or a group of friends; sure we sometimes disagreed with each other or even hated the other person; but what for ?

Anyways, SteveU was right "thanks but no thanks..." and Bruce was also right this thread is far off track and it's started to offend some of the members, I am one of them.

Like I stated before, I don't care of a vendor, a person been banned before or a person that can't read/write english becoming a mod here; as long as he/she is doing his/her job and keeping spammers away.

This is from early on in this thread and maybe it was overlooked for more spirited posts.

Mike, is there not a rule in place that mods only moderate a vendors forum at the request of the vendor? With that rule in place, I don't see a reason a sponsor cannot be a moderator. Most of them are on line quite a bit and could easily take care of things.

Simply being in the industry shouldn't necessarily disqualify someone IMO.

I'm not particularly thrilled to see the amount of spam that's been hitting the board recently but at the same time I understand the limitations of the software and it's ability to filter these out without human intervention.

Seems to me the general membership has the opinion that these spam-posting bots are the main reason the board needs more moderators. If in fact the existing team agrees with that I'd suggest appointing a new moderator with that as their major role. I realize that the software would allow other duties based on the group they are placed into but you could appoint this moderator with the understanding that babysitting the regular members is not part of their duties.

I originally had thought this thread was a bad idea. However some comments from those expressing interest in the position have been useful in forming an opinion on who might be placed on the short list of candidates most likely to succeed.

or maybe we can have something like Team SCR, who only have the power to remove spam listings.

Also they can help out with tank of the month, special event, communicate with other vendors, help promote SCR by getting more new members and attract more sponsorship from other large vendors; this would help bring more revenue to this site therefore more room to grow.

This is what I call help and support this site; not just having the power to mod, delete listing and ban someone.

Some people need to grow up and pull their head out of their &^%$; you don't need to hold a high school diploma for wanted to help out and support this site.

I don't think the software would allow such restrictions in duties but that was my point, tell them what they are supposed to do.

As per Mike at the beginning of the week he told us they would elect a mod by the of this week. So just two more days and we can lay this Thread to rest. Also when the new MOD is elected lets all give him the respect he deserved and not be snobbish toward each other.

I did proof read which it is correct however to some people it may look wrong even though it is correct.

I don't think or care if anyone is out to get me. I honestly don't give a **** about the mod thingy. But from a member and friend point of view, I think you are acting very impolite and yes it offended me and alot of members.

Take it easy dude, this is socalireefs.com only a handful of active members and I think we are like family. So next time when you do something, please think first.

Not everyone here is smart like you and not everything speak, read and write english as good as you, step back and take it easy people wants to help; we don't get pay for doing this and there is no special treatment for being a mod.

This is proper English?? I think a few commas need to be added & the word "you" should be "your"...................Nothing personal, however if you're going to correct someone on thier English, you might want to make sure your corrections are in proper English also.

I never once said we are smarter than anyone else. As a matter of fact, I stated mistakes do come from someone typing too fast...I will admit I am not perfect nor claim to be. Please excuse the double negative. I did make the "you" "your" mistake my bad and a typo...We are all friends and family here. I would like to see whoever it is make there statements professional in presentation which is all I was stating. Stop reading things out of context everyone.
