Polyps opening too much?

ok so polyp and zoas open and close right? right. what does it mean if it opens up so much that the mouth is the only thing you see and the side are under the darn thing... idk how to explain it but I think you guys know what I mean... too much light I'm thinking...

is the tube extended with the skirt curled down towards it? (so it kinda looks like a mushroom)

also lights JUST turned off so no go on the pic. they are just some nuclear greens. in a 24 gallon nano. had them in the middle but moved to bottom. 1 MH with 2 t8 blues.

nuclear green do that quite often from my experience. In fact, my pink n gold are doing that right now and they're located at the very bottom of my tank. If they are getting too much light, I feel like they would bleach/lighten up. There's been discussions of these zoa/paly behaviors in other threads with little answer. hopefully a professional marine researcher can enlighten us on this matter but i have yet to read it.
