So the other day I noticed that most of my neon toadstools were closed and a few polyps were hanging off. Checked all the water parameters and everything checks out.

This morning I saw the culprit, my PBT was nipping at it. Has this ever happen to anyone else? Does this mean he will nip at other softies like hammers or frogspawn?

I have never had issue with a powder brown, but in general I have found it a fish nips corals- it usually will always nip corals. I personally wouldn’t trust it with higher dollar corals. But you never know, only way to know for sure is to try and that’s not always the best option.

Not sure if the tang was just bored or is maybe picking at the slime coating leathers will typically shed. Do you feed nori on a regular basis? I find fish are less inclined to pick at corals if they have something more enticing and nutritious to pick at (especially fish that are not known to pick at corals in the wild like tangs).

Good luck.

Feed it nori or something else for him to munch on see if it helps, if it continues to nip at ur corals I wouldn’t risk it

I second everyone’s suggestion of feeding more seaweed if you haven’t yet. I have seen a blue hippo tang eat bristle worms. How & why? I don’t know but it was the oddest thing I’ve ever seen a fish do.
