Hey guys I have a question/problem. I bought a used aqua medic 250w + 2 t5 fixture the other day. When I go to turn on the lights everything turns on fine but the halide bulb shuts off after about 5 minutes. I can still hear the ballast buzzing but no light from the bulb. Any suggestions of why it just turns off like this? Thanks

Try a new or confirmed working bulb. If it stays on then you're golden...if not then it's the fixture/ballast. At that point try a different confirmed working ballast...and so on. Process of elimination...start with the bulb though since its the easiest to replace.

Trust but verify...

Do you have a buddy with a spare bulb you can test with? Or just go buy one (you'll need to at some point anyways) and try that.

dont know of anyone with a bulb off hand. the fixture does not have any fans in it so i assume its supposed to run without one but i hooked up a little computer fan to one side of the fixture and the light stayed on for like 10 min instead of 5 but still shut off. does that mean anything?
