It's hard to tell from your picture but my guess would be yes, it's either ich or some other external parasite. As part of your qt, you may want to incorporate the tank transfer method especially with tangs since they're known to be ich magnets.

I call it qt, but it was more of an observation period as he came from an established tank and I was told no ich.. Should I observe or catch and treat? I do understand that if it is ich it's most likely infested my tank. No other fish show I'll signs

On further inspection, I can see spots on the tail too. I would most definitely catch and treat. I've had very good results with ttm. I'd keep an eye on your other fish too if they develope ich. It's most likely in your tank now so unless you go fallow, it may reappear on your tang even after treatment.

These pics show up pretty clear to me.. I'll try again tonight.. One thing I noticed my water is not very clear currently.. Not sure why.. There's tons of white specks floating around.. I don't believe you can see ich in any other form than the white spots on the host.

The pics are ok, but not easy to see the possible parasite. A blurry white "dot" could be multiple things unless you have a clear pic of the possible parasite... Here, do some reading and let us know what your case looks like...

I've got my qt ready gonna pull him out in the morning.. Can I still do tank transfer or should I do something more drastic considering how far along the ich is?

Have you seen the spots reduce at all or have they progressively increased? The reason I ask is that ich has a 3 day cycle where they'll actually detach and fall off to the sandbed so it'll actually look like it's getting better without you doing anything, but really they're just breeding and will reattach in fuller force. However, if it's just getting progressively worse, it may be another type of parasite like velvet. Since you just noticed them this weekend, it may still be early enough to try ttm, but if you're worried, you can always try copper.

Well, that's good news. That might be a sign that he's probably infested with ich. It may be the third day of their cycle and they detached. You should do a tank change with fresh saltwater every third day for 4 rounds, but I do five just to be on the safe side. And make sure you wash the previous tank and anything in it pretty well. I myself soak everything in a light bleach solution. Keep an eye on your other fish in the tank to make sure they don't develop ich too. Hopefully their immune system is strong enough to fight them off. Let us know how it works out for you.

Well.. I don't plan to remove any other fish at this time... I will observe and see how they look. If I do find problems I'll pull then.. I have read up on ttm and feel I got a handle on it.. Only difference I have is I'm not going to use tank water (due to the circumstances) so fresh water it is..
