Pump upgrade for SWC 180 skimmer

I've had a SWC 180 skimmer for about a year and a half and I've been really dissapointed with the Sicce 2500 pumps that come standard with it. I've gone through two pumps now (the second one broke a few days ago). Does anyone know if a better pump can fit in the skimmer? Someone suggested a bubble blaster pump, but it doesn't look like it will fit in the bracket under the skimmer. Any other ideas?

Don't know about other pumps, but I upgraded the needle wheel on my Sicce 2500 in my reef octopus and notice a big difference. I upgraded to the small red devil wheel. The stock needle wheel broke on it...

I agree with Jwebber upgrade or replace it with the red wheel pin its like night and day. I have it on my 180

The wheel hasn't been the problem. The pump motors have burned out on me on two different pumps. The first slowly wore down over a month and I had to close the gate valve more and more to keep the water level constant, and the second got louder over a period of three or four days before grinding to a noisy halt one night.

I think the original wheel design was bad. Never had a problem with the new one. But that is just me.

Meaning the bad wheel design would cause the motors to burn out..

Scott look in to a tunze hyperfoamer their are three sizes I believe one would fit. I've been running mine for 2 years with no problems.

I had issues with the sicce psk so I did some research and found this. I didnt buy it, but it is supposed to be an upgrade.

Just the stock impeller.

Thanks! Someone else had mentioned these to me, as well. I did some more searching, I think I can use a bubble blaster 3000 pump, but I may need to get some extra parts to make it fit. I sent an email to Coralvue to see if the pumps would work on the SWC skimmer, so I'll see what they say.
