Yea feels good that I'm not the only one......that iCh is the one thing that scares me, with my tomini that might stress him or my flame might go after him too

Purple tangs don't usually get punked too bad with how aggressive they are I put mine in after my yellow tang and I thought I was going to lose my yellow tang but they eventually settled their differences and get along

See That's what I'm scared of my tomini means so much to me would hate to lose him might make some kind of eggcrate holder for the purple so they can get use to each other

I have a blue and a yellow tang in my 60 cube. They both are very active and healthy and overall don't seem to mind at all. We started our blue tang in a 30 bow front when she was like 1/2 in. Some people might disagree but I don't see an issue with it. When they are too big for your tank I think you will know.

John, I dont want to tell you that there will or wont be a fight between the tangs however the fish you speak of are of different genus. The purple tang is Zebrasoma xanthurum while the tomini is Ctenochaetus tominiensis. Many people do not look into this when deciding on which tangs to house in their tanks. For example in my situtation a fight was expected between my yellow tang and purple tang because they are of the same genus. The yellow tang is Zebrasoma flavescens, and the purple is another Zebrasoma. The difference in shapes of the tangs means a lot when putting different tangs in your tank, wish you the best of luck and hope this helps you to make a better decision.

If your planning on upgrading to a 180, u might want to put the purple in last. I did that, and I had no issues. If u put the PT in first, u might have some issues down the road.

Wow 3" tang in a 28 gallon? I'm not sure how your gauging its "happiness", but that is without a doubt not enouh room for him. It can't even give one good kick of its fins without hitting a wall.

"happiness"? I'm sure you mean stress levels. Those two words are much different and can be interpreted in different ways.
I always found this article interesting. Especially in paragraphs 6 and 7. I'm no expert by any means but it does go into some detail on what kind of environment certain species of tangs prefer. I am also not promoting keeping tangs in nano or small tanks or telling anyone that they are wrong. Just trying to help anyone who is open to other point of views and throw more information out in this hobby for everyone.

I have had this purple tang for well over 7 months and no ick. If you read my other post, it will be going to my 100. But people just like to talk b4 they know all the facts.
