Just wondering whether you're impacted by the water usage restrictions or whether there's an exemption for you guys. Are you going to get nailed with higher rates based on the amount you use?

I'm hoping not, love all you guys!

You own an LFS and buy all of the water for it instead of having a system? :)

I don't own a LFS and have nothing against vaginas, but I do want to ask what restrictions? Have you guys been given formal restrictions on water usage with penalties already? I am in Ventura County and haven't heard anything yet.

This whole drought thing is a scam. Its a way to squeeze more money. Did you know that 15% of all the water used in California goes to grow Almonds? Most of those Almonds are sent to Asia. We are basically exporting 15% of our water. Meanwhile all the residential use of water, including lawns and swimming pools, take up less water than almonds alone do.

Here is a chart of the water usage in California

What a joke this state is becoming with all the stupid politicians allowing agriculture lobbyists to dictate how long we can take a shower for.

Yeah, I don't think the drought is a scam - we need rain desperately. But asking residents to curb water usage is a drop in the bucket, literally. But maybe once the restrictions on residents get tight enough people will wake the hell up and start looking at where the cuts really need to happen.

My neighbors across the street put in a nice new lawn when they moved in a couple of years ago. They have the only lawn in the neighborhood. We're at 1500ft elevation and cacti grow wild, what the hell were they thinking? Welcome to the desert, idiots.

I think what James means is scam is that they make it sound as if residential water usage will have a major effect on it. That is a scam. We won't! The agriculture and environmental projects are where the water is going.

The way i understood it is we restricted water to agriculture years ago. Since doing that they have decided to tap into their ground water (which is their right (or was their right?)). Since tapping into their ground water they have depleted it. Now they are left with nothing because our ground water source is not being replenished from snow run off. Personally i feel like its stupid to grow **** in a desert. But i also dont feel its right to tell these people who have been working here for generations (long before city folk moved in) that they cant do that **** here any more. Although it is coming to that. The state needs to restrict what can be grown in mass. But cattle also needs to be reviewed. If i remember correctly they take even more water. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/03/08/opinion/meat-makes-the-planet-thirsty.html?_r=0

25% of all the water used in California goes to growing two crops. 15% of all water goes to Almonds. 10% goes to alfalfa. Both of these crops are vastly exported out of the country. 25%! Think about that. Do you think those two crops make up anywhere close to 25% of California's GDP? I don't think so. Yet we are having our rates vastly increased. We are made to feel terrible unless we rip our lawns out. No water given at restaurants now. Politicians blaming us! Cmon man. This is BS. If they wanted to reduce water usage they could very easily.

Hahaha who the hell NEEDS almonds (besides the wasabi almonds those things are the best). I need rib eyes. There for i need alfalfa to feed my rib eye in its early stages. I hear you. And in my opinion you should have all those rights. But is asking for water that much trouble? I dont like wasting anything that doesnt need to be wasted. I dont want them to pour me water (drought or no drought) if it isnt going to be drank! In my hood its still cool to have grass. I keep trying to talk my parents into doing something else because of the rebates available but there is a stigma in the suburbs with having no grass. And that stigma is as much bull **** as the one making people feel bad for having grass!

I wonder what the cost of water is for these agri guys are. Im sure its not cheap. Ive seen billboards all up the 5 free for the past 10 years (maybe more) talking about their water shortage issue. This is an issue we are just now dealing with, but they ahve been dealing with for a longer time. Ive heard worries that we are one of the largest suppliers for milk & beef. why?! we are too populated for that ****. Take that crap (literally) out into the middle of the US where land is dirt cheap.
