My rock work has slowly slid down over the last year and I'm going to take it out and re-do all the rock work, about 300-400lbs. I'm also going to replace about 80-100 gallons of the water, clean out the sump... etc. I'm planning on putting the rocks into ice chests with salt water while I work on the tank. If I don't disturb the sand too much and limit the exposure to air I shouldn't get a cycle right? The tank is a 240+150ish sump.

Anything I should watch for?

you should be good, done that a couple times this year, just sucks if sticks are glued to rock and get knocked around...

no sticks, all LPS and nems (like 8 of them).

Another question about flow. I have 4 returns into the tank, 2 on each side. I have 3 1500gph + 2 1000gph. I feel like that is not enough flow, but it is the same as 30x.... I'm thinking of adding a pair of RW8s... is that too much?

MORE FLOW.

When you take the rocks out of the bin... give them a good shake to remove the detritus.

So you think 4 more RW8s?
Nah just go with the 2... I was kidding but in general the more flow the better so long as your coral arent getting beat and your sand stays in one place.

But Im on #teamjebaohater so I cant make a recommendation lol

Starting this now. Got two RW8s and a bunch of regular powerheads 1200 and 1700s. My tank is 8' long and 24x24 any suggestions on the best placement for these? Starting to wish I would have ordered 4 instead of just two. I was 2 on the backwall at opposite sides about a 1' from the end.

I'm redoing my rock work, so I'm open to suggestions. The other choice was in the middle alternating to create turbulence.
