Received an RO unit for free - can I just add a DI canister for reef ready water?

That's how mine is. Spectra pure 90gpd. I rerouted the lines to have a ROsave.z sediment filter, a 5 micron carbon, 1 micron carbon, RO membrane, then a dual DI from brs.

Whats the purpose of the dual DI over the single? Just so that it lasts longer?

Lasts longer, but when the first one is exhausted, you move the 2nd to the first spot, then refill the second one with new.
