Looking to purchase a really nice RODI unit during Black Friday and was hoping to get some recommendations about what brand is best for reef tanks? Brand names or links would be greatly appreciated!

BRS has a good rodi unit. Replacement filters are readily available and they have options to fit your needs. Finding out your source waters TDS and if there are chloramines will help you make a better decision.

There are Plenty of choices out there. Spectrapure is my choice. Basic setup is the MPDI-90 at about $240. I think they are one of the best in the business. They only deal with water purification

BRS with a spectrapure membrane if you can swing it. Depends on how much water you make but I imagine most will make up the difference quickly with savings in DI resin. What is your incoming TDS?

Yes what he said.. The Spectrapure membrane and DI makes the kit the best in my opinion. The filter housings are no better than others.

I use a modded BRS unit with a combo of BRS carbon blocks, dow membranes and Spectrapure DI. Depending on how much water you need to make, the 75gpd is probably good enough. The great thing is that you can always expand the system. Mine started out as a 4 stage water saver unit and now I have a 7 stage system. LA water is shit, so dual carbon blocks are a must and something to remove silicates. I was using all BRS media, but their resins would expire faster than the Spectrapure resins.

You also want to make sure you're hitting 60psi on the membrane(s), so a booster pump may be necessary based on your water pressure.

I used bulk resins in the past but Spectrapure Maxcap and SilicaBuster last me way longer than anything else. 75gpd over 90 is ideal if it fits your needs. 75 has a better rejection rate. As far as Membrane's go for a quality one like Spectrapure or Dow/Filmtec. I believe Dow makes units for other suppliers. Whatever you get Just stay away from cheap filters/Media....
