Has anyone dealt with Red Planeria naturally ie. not using flatworm exit?

I purchased a velvet damsel for my sump in the past, and the red planeria did disappear. Although there wasn't thousands of them so not sure if the fish was eating them or not. Others have recommended a target mandarin or a six line.

But have any of you had actual first hand experience? I'm leaning towards a six line since they are cheap, but am open to other suggestions.

My frag tank is small, only about 10 gallons I guess. So I don't want to add a halichoeres wrasse (melanurus, yellow canary, etc)

Prior to adding the fish, I plan to remove all the corals to dip them and the racks. I can also suck out as many as possible.

Thoughts?

I'm also seeing that a Springer's Damsel, or a Velvet Nudibranch will also eat them.

I'm just trying to decide which fish I should get. Hoping someone has some insight on the best route to take.

I had a bad cyano and hair algae issue, with tons of flatworms, several years back. I started dosing kalk to boost skimming and the flatworms disappeared within a week. I then tried it on my frag tank and it worked as well. Never reappeared. Might just be coincidence but I think high ph (hit 8.6) might have done them in...

Id be afraid of a mass die off... I have a gazillion in my frag tank.

Good to know tho. I'll keep it in mind. Thanks for that.

Mandarin or ruby red dragonet.
I tried a target mandarin, from Tongs, and it lasted oh about a week.

Get the green one or better yet the ruby red one they have now. Was just there the other day for food and saw a bunch of red ones. Put a cover on though because it will jump.

I've used the blue velvet nudi.. They're insatiable and exclusively eat flatworms. They go thru them surprisingly fast too! Plus they're so cute :p

Long time ago I had red planeria in my 100g tank. One day they just appeared in my tank, I'm sure they came with a coral or something. But I didn't know what it was soooo I just let them be... LOL Until they covered up my entire tank. Long story short, I started to read about flatworm exit and how some people were OK with it and some crashed their systems. Because I had so many of them, I was too afraid to use any chemicals. I made myself a little vacuum. I just used this small silicone tubing for an air pump and a nylon media bag that petsmart sells for $.99. The tube was long enough to easily go from my display to the sump, at the other end of the tube I attached the media bag. So I was sucking up the planeria into the media bag and all the water was going back to my tank. I did it every day for like a week. I washed the media bag after each use, and they were all gone.

I wonder if a possum wrasse would get the job done? Small, friendly and reef safe. All mine did was hunt for pods all day, no experience with red planeria though. Good luck Cody.
