Anyone ever owned redstripe hogfish or just hogfish in general, I'd like to hear personal experiences with this type of fish. Liveaquaria has them as non aggressive and good for reef tanks

Live aquaria had them on sale about 2 weeks ago. I was going to get one, but did some research and decided against. They can get very aggressive, will go after smaller fish like flasher wrasse, smaller goby, and other smaller fish like gramma, dart fish etc. They are also really bad jumpers. Cool looking fish but there is a big chance, once the fish mature, it is going to be pain on the butt.

What she said^^^. They are right up there with mystery wrasses. If they are the last fish in you should be okay but if you plan on adding anything that's similar in shape after them chances are it will be killed. Plus as they get bigger fish they were ok with they may have a change of heart with. If you still want one after reading all this I can get you one for about 60 to 70 ish

Hmmmmm..... I want to add some type of red fish but I don't want to add another wrasse, I already have 2 & a mandarin for the pods. I saw another called a swissguard basslet that look just like it, is that any better or worse?

Super super shy fish but pretty. Depending on tank size and rock work you might not see him much. Flame hawk?

Hogs will eat and critter in the tank. I've had a few and the are aggressive eaters. Took out bristle worms thicker then a pencil! Never had an issue with aggression towards other fish but every fish is different. I have the Diana hog right now and she is my absolute fav! To each their own.

Isn't the female flame wrasse a brighter red?? Just thinking if I'm going to add another wrasse which I was against might as well make it count!!

Is your female flame a juvenile or adult? Just wondering if the red enhances as they mature, I would prefer a brighter red even thought that linesppot is pretty nice.
I guess juvis... they are still pretty small. But my transitioning male isn't super deep red either. The terminal males get really deep red with the yellow.
