Hoevens wrasse is an excellent choice for eating anything nuisance. My experience with sand sifting gobies is that they do a great job, but only near their cave. I think most people get sand sifting stars or fighting conch snails. A small yellow Tang would be great for algae control, would definitely want to get a baby though. And of course a pair of clowns because well, no tank is complete without them :)

Anyone else have any input? I'm looking into a reef system that can handle itself if any outbreaks happen but I'm also looking for a wonderful color. Also what and how many clean up crew would I need?

yellow corris eat pests and not your cuc. fighting conch does work on my sand. rely on water changes and proper equipment to keep nitrates and phosphate low which helps control algae. I really like my anthias, mccoskers fairy wrasse, but most of all my ornate leopard he just has the coolest personality. I really do enjoy the color my yellow corris gives without the tang aggression. Now i just need a bigger tank so i can get a flame angel.

If you are looking for fish that can "handle outbreaks", and fish that won't jump out of a rimless tank without a cover, you might be very mislead brotha... Is this your first marine tank? There are fish that can be suggested to help out with problematic issues but this hobby is all about "good husbandry"!

Well I just want to establish a tank that can be sustainable of course with good husbandry of wc,dosing, feeding, testing and so on. And im still planning on how to achieve a cover without ruining the rimless tank look.

Let me know when you find out how to do that. I have to cover my nice tank with a stupid light diffuser...

So I come home after a long hot day after work and I notice new fish in my tank which include 2 Three Stripe Damselfish and what looks like a lawnmower blenny because of its dark colors. Now the questions is what rule of thumb should I use to fish stock? 1 in per 5 gal?

The inches per gallon for fish is kind of outdated. Just stick with smaller types of fish that won't outgrow the tank. I would take the damsels back because they can get aggressive towards other fish and they don't really do anything cool.

Kind of screwed because parents picked them out but now I want to add that its not a lawnmower blenny but a scooter and now I have to find a way to establish a good source of pods but I did see it eat frozen food so I would like to keep it that way.

Do you have sand in your tank? A melanarus wrasse adds great color and they will eat pests! If you don't have sand then a six line wrasse would work. I also like clownfish and flame hawks but the flame hawks and melanarus might go after any snails and hermit crabs in your tank!

I know there are some pods in a bottle that you can buy but I'm not too familiar with the products. I would get some chaeto from a member here and put that in your refugium or tank. Usually established chaeto will be crawling with pods!

Anyone near or around Carson, Torrance, Long beach area that have some or any recommendations on where I can buy some pods to get some sort of establishment in my tank. I'n thinking of a DIY pod condo but I can see that I have alot of hiding places for them to go to.
