Just set up my Reef Octopus this morning. My question is does anyone have experience with this skimmer.
Seems to be moving alot of water and Micro Bubbles into the tank. Hopefuly the bubbles subside with time.
Any help or experience with this skimmer that will ease my busy head please chime in ,give some advice.
Thanks

i freaking love mine... I even modified it by replacing a wider neck and mesh-modding the pinwheel... anyways, it needs time to mature.. Something w/ the water chemistry and running a new skimmer..

I get that all the time when I put new skimmers in or use a skimmer w/ a new tank (especially after a large water change)...

Mine haven't gone away and I've been running it on a mature tank (4 years old) for a couple months. It's irritating/lots of salt creep/splash. Other than that it's a decent skimmer. Have to engineer a bubble trap on the return somehow, lol.

I just flipped the 90 elbow upside down in the return side of the skimmer.
The big bubbles stop but you loose water height in the skimmer chamber which equals not being able to adjust skimmer box!
Ill just let it run like this for a while and see if I continue getting good skim action.

yeah, the big bubbles are a given especially w/ HOB and how it drains back into the tank... ya just gonna have to point to somewhere that it won't be as visible and deal w/ it unfortunately...

I made a bubble trap for mine. Sewed together a black piece of filter pad with fishing line and wrapped it around the return. I then turned the return towards the skimmer box making sure the filter pad reached the skimmer box. Problem solved. Just make sure you pull it out and clean it at every water change. Will post a pic tomorrow when I get a chance. I love mine. Yes the salt creep is there but it skims some nasty stuff. Play with the cup so it doesn't skim to wet.

Also added an extra 18 inches of tubing on the exit part of the silencer... Makes it way quieter.
