What Luis is talking about is a twist-socket LED bulb. I saw some at HD for about $10. Good deal IMO.
I have one of those 10 dollar led bulbs from home depot inside one of those small clamp on reflector thing...it uses 8watts I guess and is supposed to be equivalent to to like a 40-45 watt bulb... I was running it 12 hours a days and saw that my cheato wasn't growing/thriving to its fullest.. I am now running the light 24/7..

I'm going to upgrade to the next bulb which I believe is 75watt equivalent and cost 20 something bucks
Just my 0.02 cents

The thing with those par38 screw in LEDs is you need at least 6 inches between water and bulb as it has a huge spot light effect. The Home Depot ones puts out about 1,500 par in a small area and can kill some macro.
