I was at HD and saw some LED light bulbs, which I think would be great for my fuge. I think!!! Well there were two that caught my eye. Both are 60w Cree bulbs, difference was one was daylight (5000k), and the other was a warm white (2700k). Would any of these suffice my fuge, if so which would you recommend? If not what are you using to grow chaeto, caulerpa?

SEkTEK.... I have read up and done my research... Everything leads to 6500k for the fuge. This also depends on what you plan to use your fuge for. For example if you are just planning to host algae, sand and rock then that'll do just fine. But the minute your decide to place corals(especially those that need PAR) you may want to consider other options. How much room do you have to work with?

Thanks for the input. Here's a few pics of my sump. Fuge area is 16"x27". I don't plan on growing anything special, but all I know is cfs. So with this build I'd like to do LEDs. Do you have a particular brand or light that you like? ImageUploadedByTapatalk 21374978687.536102.jpg

Nothing is wrong with a high water level as long as it doesn't overflow. I like high water lines as you have more room to play with and a higher volume of water. As long as there is enough space to hold water when the power goes out, you're fine.

That's the thing guys if I take water out my pump would start running dry. At first I thought my water was too high as well, so I removed some and sure enough my pump started gurgling, so I just put it back, and this is with it dialed down drastically. What else can I try?

I turned pump off, and I still got room to play with.

LOL I was at HD just an hour ago looking for a possible refugium light and timers also. Did you see any CREE led that was on the 6500k range?

Probably not, at this point the lowest energy consuming bulb would get my vote
+1 I've read on other websites where they've had success with a lower kelvin. Don't know if 2700k is too low though.
