Hey everyone!

Just started up a small reef tank a couple of weeks ago and fell in love with the hobby all over again. Currently, I'm running a 20G Jebo tank with a wet/dry filter and PC lights built in. All it currently has in it for now is the live sand and live rocks...hoping to pick up some soft corals this week and some damsels or chromis.

This was set up specifically for my kids. After a recent trip to Rainforest Cafe, I saw how my kids (5 years old and 4 month old) were just in love with their fish tanks. They couldn't stop staring at it the whole time we were there for dinner. LOL. I decided to set up a small tank again for them with going in with the mindset of going freshwater. But when we were in the store, my wife and son didn't like the look of freshwater fish (neither did I) and so we decided to go saltwater.

I used to be in the hobby for almost 10 years, but when I got married, I just didn't have the time for it anymore before. My last tank I had was a 150G Reef. I had it running successfully for 3 years without any problems. I really experimented with it and I was happy with the results of the tank. I was able to combine hard and soft corals, clams, the normal reef fish (damsels, tangs, wrasses, etc.) with carnivorous fish like lionfishes and puffers.

For this tank however, I plan on keeping it simple! :proud: Looking forward to reading up on the articles here and learning how to run a reef tank again. Thanks everyone for a great forum!

Welcome. So you said you had a lion fish and puffer in your last reef tank. What kind of puffer? And did you have any problems with it or the lionfish? I would really like to add one of those or both to my reef setup!

I had a porcupine and dog face puffer at one time in addition to the lionfish. The trick was to have a lot of space and fed them daily. This way the fish didn't have any desire to go after any of the small fish. Although the only time I had a hiccup was when i put in a red snapper. Lionfish was hungry and I thought he couldn't eat the snapper due to it's size. Let's just say the lionfish proved me wrong! lol

As for everyone else....thanks for the welcome! I look forward to learning more again about this hobby.
