You probably want a copperband because they're awesome but what about ORA's new captive bred aiptasia eating filefish. You could get an army of them and they're pretty easy to catch if you need to get them out.

Pearlscale and Klein's butterflies also eat aiptasia pretty reliably. I have a customer with an aiptasia eating pearlscale in his reef tank for about 6 months and none of the corals are suffering.

^^^That's what I would do as well Scott since you are pretty much 100% SPS.

I've had one in the past and they are indeed easy to catch. Well my tank is a lot smaller though hehe

i had one filefish in my tank and he wiped out aiptasia and kept it gone. he sadly passed away a couple months ago after he went for a ride down my drain pipe and got stuck behind the ball valve for a few days until I noticed. I still haven't seen any aiptasia since though. I think he scared them all away.

I have a Proven file fish, and he is starting to make a dent, but I need a long pair of Needle nose pliers to get in between the corals. Aaron put me down for a couple of the Captive bred, but they do not look as nice as a Coperband. Now that mine is gone I miss him and realize what a great job he did!

How long have you had him? If over 6 months, fat and healthy and proven Aptasia Eater will pay $300 Plus a couple nice frags!

There is a fish store near me that has one and says it eats both frozen and aptasia. I didn't see it for myself but you can call them. There fish frenzy In temecula. Might be worth the drive if it's true

I would look into a filefish over copperband. Copper bands get stressed too easily if there are aggressive established fish in the tank already.

Are those filefish hard to get through qt since there is no aptasia in there?

Hey Scott I'll let u borrow mine for free but I want him back when he's done.
He's well trained ask turbonut and tangreefkeeper. He eats any frozen foods and can b caught by hand. Also he single handedly whipped out a s*** load of apts in a few days. I don't mean like a hundred or so more like a thousand

Awesome offer, sure you dont want to sell him:) I would rather not have to give him back, but at this point I need to erase these basturds!

I had a great one for 2 years never saw an aptasia in my tank, I could grab a frag out of my other tank and hold it in the tank and he would clean the aptasia off the frag out of my hand. I woke up one morning and he had a piece of Red Dragon coral sticking out of his eye. Within a few days he swam in circles until he died. Did not realize what a loss until Aptasia started growing everywhere. I have rushed a new one through quarantine and he has not touched Aptasia yet.

Getting desperate though especially in tight spots between the coral. A friend said he thought it looked like less than the last time, but all I see is those little nems!
