Hey everyone. I wanted to start the hobby with the tank I plan on keeping for a long time, a rimless of around 50g. I was wondering if that is a bad choice for someone who's just starting out.

Thank you in advance.

It's a great idea!! I'm currently on my 4th tank build, going rimless this time around was the best thing o could of done. Way easier to clean and it just looks so much nicer. To each their own, some peeps like the euro brace but I think rimless looks best!! Looks a lot more sleek, hate covers & bracing

Thank you very much! Now I just need to find out a place that sells them, and that isn't extremely expensive.

NO RIMLESS! haha Rimless looks cool and all but its such a pain in the but when you clean it and water ALWAYS spills out. My next tank will be Recessed eurobrace for sure. Oh and by the way, keeping a tank for a long time for sure is about a year or two in this hobby then you go bigger! haha

I'm usually pretty careful so it's always very minimal. If it's braced then u have to get ur arm around the bracing which I hated after a while, and would always spill water anyways lol

Check out SC Aquariums. I think the price for a full setup 50g is $800 shipped. You can try to haggle with them on the price, but I think that move works better when you're picking the tank up from their warehouse here in CA.

+1 to SC Aquariums. Low iron glass on front and sides. Comes reef ready as well. Tank, stand, sump, skimmer AND all plumbing done. I love my SCA 66g. If your willing to drive over to the shop, I hear you can get MUCH better deals if you save them the pain of shipping. Call them up and ask, I got a insanely low quote for a 120g.

Is the tank you saw glass or acrylic? I'm a fan of glass as its harder to scratch while cleaning.

I have an sc aquarium 50 gallon rimless that will be put up for sale once my 120 finishes cycling, but that won't be for at least another month. If you are looking to get one right now, go down to the sc aquarium warehouse in Ontario. They'll take around $200 off if you do local pickup
