ritteri in mp40

so today before my lights went completely off i saw stuff floating around looked closer into my tank & one of my ritteris was stuck in the mp40. i did a 30 gallon water change. but i left my shredded nem in the tank after my water change my fish started breathing fast. 2 look like goners. idont have carbon so i cant add it.

my question is, can the nem nuke my tank if i leave it? should i toss it?
