i recently purchased a spectrapure 90gpd rodi system. i havent hooked one up before so i'm kind of a tard when it comes to this. the system has an input gauge that reads 60psi which seems good, the DI resin stage is only about half full of water and output seems very minimal. at this rate its going to take some serious time to fill my 200 gallon system. if i do the math right its almost 4gallons an hour. that seem right? it like just trickles out out the output.. any insight would be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance

I might be able to stop by this sat if you havent figuered it out. Also make sure your waste line isnt clogged in any way as this will make your psi gauge go up but water production horrible. At 4 gallons an hour thats actually not bad. It took me 3 days to fill up about 275 gallons of water and I have a 150 gpd system. Just make sure your out going water measures 0 on the TDS and you will be golden. Also fill up with water then mix salt to SG and then add sand then live rocks. Did you also 'wet' test your tank and sump before starting to fill it up with the good water? Just trying to think of stuff I messed up on when setting up my big tank so you dont have any headaches in the future.

A 4:1 ratio (good/waste) is **** good! I say you are golden as long as your output is at 0 TDS. Ill bring my portable TDS too so we can test a sample of what ever is already filled up in the tank. At 4 GPH you whould have that puppy filled by the time I get there this Sat!

I think he meant 4:1 waste/good water
i think the same thing too.

is the pressure being measured going into the membrane? that is the pressure you want to measure. if you do not want to waste water you can add another membrane in series with your current membrane and add a booster pump at 80PSI. with this setting i was about to get close to 1:1 ratio.

ARRRGH! I see well then 4:1 is horrible. I will stop by this Sat. 75-80 psi is best especially with the water we have up in the high desert. Best thing you can do is go to the local water store and just fill up using 5 gallon buckets. They measure 0 on my TDS and cost 0.20 per gallon.

the pressure gauge is right on the inlet of the membrane. it reads 60psi constant. the water level in the di stage fluctuates from 1/3 full to completely full. is this ok?

the tds meter that is on the rodi system has an inlet measurement and outlet measurement. inlet tds is only about 3-6ppm. i didnt think that was too bad...aside from the chlorine and other junk being in tap water. outlet measures 0ppm. seems to work good as of this morning. made about ~45gallons.

Well if its been on for the last 24 hours then 4:1 (waste/good) is not proper. Best way to measure is is to see how many drips it takes to fill up 5 mL. Take that number (seconds) and divide by 60 (eg: if it takes 10 seconds to produce 5 ml of clean water then you make 30 ml in 60 seconds). Now multiply that number (30) by 60 (min) and that comes out to 1800 mL (half a gallon roughly). A good example of 5 mL would be those API test vials that have a water line. Thats how I deduced my GPD. Of course take that 1800 and multiply by 24 (hours in a day) and you have 43200(mL). Divide by 3785 (ml in one us gallon) and you get 11.5 GPD. I am sure there is an easier way of calculating your GPD but, I am nurse so I work in mL and this was easiest for me lol!

You made 45 gallons in 8 hours!?!? Thats roughly 5.5 gallonds per hour. So you are making 5.5 gallons of good water per 1 gallon of waste! If that is true then you dont need me to come by bro cause you will make at or above your 90 GPD rating. You are golden my friend.

DI stage does not have to be full. Mine is only a third full of water. What unit did you get? I have the Maxcap unit.
