Looking to upgrade my skimmer for future tank inhabitants so I just wanted to see what all of you think. I have a Vertex Alpha 170 Royal-Exclusiv edition with original Red Dragon pump. I believe to be the second owner of this skimmer and I have used it for about 5 months now. Skimmer body and pump were recently taken apart and cleaned for regular maintenance. No cracks anywhere but the skimmer body seems to have some fine scratches from cleaning. Those scratches are only noticeable when the body is completely dry. Both hoses are in perfect condition along with the skimmer cup. The top of the skimmer cup cap has some scratches as shown on the pictures below. The Red Dragon pump impeller is in immaculate condition. Magnet has no signs of warp. fade, or cracking. Impeller wheel has no cracks or breaks. All in all, the skimmer is in great condition. The only thing that is better than its condition, is its ability to skim. This thing is a BEAST! But enough writing. Ill let the pictures speak for themselves. Looking to get $600. Thank you for looking.

After one week of skimming

Black Sludge EVERY time I do my weekly maintenance

Looks Brand new

Scratches on the skimmers cup cap

Skimmer is still hooked up to my tank as you can see. If sold the buyer would receive the item after installation of new skimmer which I'm hoping to get very soon. Thank you again for looking.

I have the same skimmer. It is a beast for sure. If anyone purchases this wants the neck cleaner hit me up! I have a brand new that doesn't fit under my stand

Im in the same boat! My stand is 1 inch too small for me to fit a neck cleaner on that thing :( The way it skims I could have used it too
Dude. So frustrating. I tried building a new skimmer stand to let it sit lower in the sump but the skimmer couldn't adjust to the additional depth.

Really? That sucks! How many inches of water is it sitting in? I currently am running mine in about 10 inches of water. Also the guy who I bought the tank setup from had maximized the space underneath the tank to fit the sump so when I go to empty the skimmer cup I have to pour the skimmate out first and then Im able to angle the cup out lol Its a pain in the butt! I have no room under the tank but i try to work with it as best as I can lol
