So last night my spotcinctus clown had these white spots like fine grain sand all over him, he was eating and swimming like nothing was wrong so I didn't want to stress him out even more. This morning I woke up to my clownfish and blue spot jaw fish sucked onto the side of my mp10 and my phantom clown dead in the sand :/ anyone know what happened? My Midas blenny is alive and swimming around like nothing happened and all my coral are thriving as usual. I have a Red Sea reefer nano (21 gallon display, 7 gallon sump) with a bunch of zoas , a frogspawn, Duncan and a rbta. I do weekly water changes and my Params are normal.

How strong is the flow once lights are off? If the fish has ice they are weakened maybe the mp10 was on really high and they just couldn't fight it? just a guess.......

I don't know if it's ich or brooklynella? But my Midas blenny doesn't seem to be affected

I'd be watching that midas close. Try looking at him from sand level up towards the light. Preferably blue lighting. It makes it much easier to seen fine spots. They can be tough to spot on certain fish.

Use this. Immune booster for fish. Worked wonders on my 150gal tang tank. Had ich but everyone fought back in the tank and didn't lose one fish since I started soaking their pellets in this. Yeee hah.

That sucks man... did the clowns look like they were shedding skin or just have the spots? Either way keep a close eye on the blenny and qt if you can.

No skin shedding, just white spots that looked like sand all over his body, it's actually just the spotcinctus clown that had the spots, the jaw fish and phantom clown were doing their usual thing, jaw fish in the sand and the phantom chilling in the back upper right corner

Clowns are so weak specially with ick. Lost a few that way. Introduced a yellow tang without QT and they were gone. Same as you like sand all over their body.

Yeah man, it sucks. I keep reading that clowns are hardy but they seem to be the only fish I can't keep lol. I think every clown I've ever had in my tanks have died. The jaw fish I think just got caught when trying to jump out of the hole above the powerhead

Heck no, they are very weak specially tank raised ones. I been QT 3 onyx only one made it and they were all eating. They been breeding them too much their genes aren't used to fighting ick.

Lies... some get lucky but in my experience they are too sheltered. If they get mixed with wild caught clowns they get brook. Always something....

Whelp.. I'll wait a month and try again with clowns, no fish for now. I'm like the opposite of what everyone tells me, I can keep corals and anemones alive but fish keep dying
