Just stumbled on this when I was browsing through RC. Not sure if this has been posted or not but a good message for everyone that handles/frags zoa's and palys. This is just a good reminder to always wash your hands and protect yourself with gloves/goggles when fraging because I know a couple of members here frags bare handed.

oops wrong spelling. HANDLING! what a dumbbb a$$ LOL

usually only happens to palys not zoas... but still... everyone should be cautious...

i've been hit before with palytoxin myself... it was a pretty horrible high... scared me a bit... but meh... i've gone thru worst... but still... everyone reacts different... i'm probably just some sort of mutant that didn't get killded somehow...

funny, that he got hooked up by some purple deaths... i got beat down by proto palys too... not sure witch ones since i fragged PD's, NG's, BD's and CA's that night...

Becareful you guys don't rub your eyes after fragging up your zoas/palys. Personally I don't wore goggles when fragging though. Just keep a good distance away from the coral when fragging incase it squirts at you.

I wouldn't push your luck. there are numerous stories out there regarding zoa toxin poisoning. Unless you are superman, i recommend everyone to spend an extra 50cent gloves atleast before fragging your hundred dollar colony...

oh yeah, make sure you have Medical insurance...

wow... you are sooooo keeewwll.... can i like... get your autograph...? on this frag plug....?

i wouldn't joke about it at all... people have died from it before and fast too, like in a matter of minutes not hours...

also... i'm sure it wasn't PD juice... most likely it was the slime... the toxic part comes from the flesh of the paly... they bleed out paly toxin, and they slime off protein water...

This is correct.

I have heard of people even going blind by getting a little of the slime in there eyes, while cutting or fragging. They use chemical warfare to kill other corals or humans!

Not too long ago (maybe a month ago) I was fragging and experienced being exposed to toxins. I was using gloves but I must have inhaled toxin while using my coral saw. Let's just say it was awful. Within probably an hour or two I started having some tightness when I was breathing. I had awful chills, so bad in fact that I decided not to go to the ER because I didn't want to get out from under the blankets. Middle of the night the sweats started and woke up with just a headache.

The next week I went to Harbr Freight to buy a respiratory mask and face shield. I'll only frag corals outside from now on too.

Nasty stuff!

I feel you, I have asthma and it comes and goes... I just started recently getting in to the fragging and trading scene, I wonder if it has to do with all the Z's & P'z I have been cutting!
