Hey Nick, i see you are using aquamaxx rock. Can you give me your opinion of how you like it so far. I'm thinking of replacing my rock for these. Nice looking tank BTW. TIA

I love it! I did wash it in acid before I used it, but I'm not sure if it did anything. Super cheap, and very easy to stack and make nice aquascapes. I would definitely use it again.

Spent about 5 hours cleaning the tank today. Did a 30g water change, scraped all the coralline and algae build up on the back glass. Also lowered the water level in the tank by a 1 inch. The euro bracing was getting algae growing on it, and creating shadows in the tank. Pulled out my skimmer and cleaned my sump out really well. Vinegar soaked my skimmer pump. Tank is looking super nice right now.

Also picked up a nice red dragon frag from Rob. (Thanks again buddy)

How did you lower the water level?

I have a modified bean animal drain, So the height of the secondary drains dictates the height of water inside the tank. I cut the secondary drains down 1", and that lowered the level inside the whole tank. No more algae on the bracing = no more shadows inside the tank.

Got a pic of that? Interested in how that works? Do you have a weir?

It's all in this thread. Good luck going through all the pages looking for it. Lol. There's a video of it running too. Thanks to mr lowbudget for the overflow idea. Super simple, and works like a charm

Haha, that's what I was afraid of. I know it's there but I'm not going through all the posts. Haha

I would post it, but I've got some friends coming over, so I gotta clean up. What exactly did u wanna see? I can post it tomorrow
I saw a pic of the overflow box and weir, just wondering with the overflow box, how you were able of lower the water level. I thought the weir/overflow set the height if the water inside the tank.

Yea idk about that one, with this tank and overflow setup, that ain't so.
The height of the secondary drain stand pipe is what sets the water level inside the tank. I had the stand pipe just about level with the top of the tank. It worked great, and there was no water falling into the overflow box. Now that I lowered the level in the overflow box, there is a little bit of sound coming from the water falling. U can't hear it once everything is on and the tank is running. Rather have a little water fall sound then gnarly algae.
