Does anyone have experience with Scolymias? For some reason the past couple of days mine has not been opening up all fat like it normally does. It does not really look unhealthy it is just not opening up and at night it is not putting out its feeder tentacles like it normally does. Im new to maintaining this type of coral and really don't want to loose it. My thought is that it is not getting enough food so I am trying to use a baster to blow some mysis, brine, krill shrimp mixture directly at the coral. I wish I could show pics but I am not that advanced yet. Any ideas:dontknow:??

the usual questions people will ask you is, what are your params?

pH?
Alk?
Cal?
Salinity?
Nitrates?

Most important is salinity, pH and Alk I would say. Any fluctuation in those can affect your corals.

I knew that was gonna come. I currently only use test stripes which show all parameters are in the ok to ideal range. I know these are not accurate. Probably will not get much help until I can get better parameter readings, right? I am due for a water change, usually do about 20-25% once a week. Maybe I will get a response from the Scoli when I do the change.

yah, get salifert alk kit, get a pH monitor, and refractometer for salinity, then we can talk ;)

Also consider any changes in lighting?

Otherwise, I'd say go with the water change asap, and keep changing til scoly looks good again.
