I see most sites and a lot of users suggest using the 1/4" clear mesh netting when making a screen top for a tank but that stuff isn't readily available at local stores (home depot / Lowes). Its available online but for 3 times the price of standard window screen mesh material. Is using the standard window screen material a no no? Does it block out too much light? What do you guys use?

Thanks!

Or go to a dollar store and buy a bath scrunchy. You can unroll it and cut it the long way (it's a tube) and it stretches crazy wide. Works great, at least until the cat punches a hole in it (ask me how I know... this is why I'm a dog person).

i used to use a loofa before to frag mushrooms and other softies... i would unroll it, and wrap it around a rock until they attach... good tip...

I bought my netting off eBay. For about 16 dollars it was 72x36 I believe. I went to a local window / mirror shop and they custom made two large screens for 11 dollars each.

They may have changed their online store but I have about 3 sq. Yards sitting in my garage I'm not gonna use if anyone wants to pay me to ship it to them.

I thought it was clear mesh
