I don't know how safe it is to seal a 2" hole. Anyone know how simple it is and how safe it is. I'm afraid 15000lb of pressure would be too much to hold. I want to cut out the existing glass overflow. Seal up the 2 inch drain. Then drill the drain hole up top with a coast to coast slim overflow on top only.

Personally, seems a little iffy. I would talk to some glass/tank shops in your area and see what they have to say.
I figured there's already pressure regardless. Im thinking the only thing I need to worry about is leaking. But still. I'm not a specialist. That's a lot if weight to put on the glass. I assume the over flow lightens the pressure around the hole too. Not sure.

its not hard to seal at all. water weighs in at .43 psi per foot of elevation. so a 2 inch hole has an area of pie x R squared. so that's 3.14 square inches. so if your tank is 24 inches tall then that only 6.28 psi of water pressure needed to hold back. I don't know how you got 15000. just get some thick glass and silicone on both sides and call it day.

Oops. I meant 1500lb. Tank is 36x36x24. I guestamated including sand/rock weight.

sand and rock weight are distributed around the hole. beside the patch will pick up the slack as it acts as a brace. its round so it has no defining edges for which a crack would start.
