Now that I have all the equipment for my tank (for now) I'm facing trying to manage all of the cords and timers.

Please save me from just throwing up my hands and buying an Apex out of frustration and analysis paralysis. What are you non-controller reefers using to manage lights and timers? Which power strips are you happy with? What timers are you using and did you find any that aren't complete bricks (I need 4 of them.. at least). Any and all suggestions welcome. :)

It's not cheap, that is for sure. Plus once you buy one, you want to get all the attachments. Then you $2k into it

Apex, I own two units with 4 eb8s, even my nano has an apex jr lol the less I have to worry about my 3 tanks. The better... but before that I bought timer from homedepot which was also pricy. I have 4 I think you can have, if you go to Ellis Aquatics on a Saturday let me know I can meet u there.

I tallied my expenses recently and between all the equipment I've bought to keep my tank going.... I could've bought an Apex Jr. I'm saving to get a full Apex soon, I now regret not buying it from the start.

I would at least get a reef keeper lite. Used if you can should set you back only about $80-100. It has the four outlets and is not going to give you a bunch of little boxes with extension cords behind your tank

I think that's the same logic the part of me that keeps trying to rationalize the Apex is using. :)

Zoarder, I can't make it out there but thanks for the offer!!

xmas_one, I'll check out the DJ strip. :) I was going to check Electronic City in Burbank since they did a lot of business with the entertainment industry... but they closed down. :( Fry's was a bust, everything there was cheap (in quality, not price) and I want to make sure whatever I get is reliable.

Guitar center has the dj strips. Ebay also has them.

You can buy an "American DJ" strip, for about $30 on amazon it has 8 outlets. It seemed better than others out there, I have two in my cabinet.

I was gonna use a dj strip but got a good deal on a reef keeper lite and does help a lot with timers and extension cords. Now I wanna upgrade to a elite. Haven't had any problems with my reefkeeper and cheaper than apex forsure

I checked into the Reefkeeper too but it seemed like people had more problems with it than Apex? I'll look again though. :) I'm not dying to spend more money but 1) it's my birthday so I can get away with it! and 2) I want something reliable, whether that's just good power strips and timers or a controller.
