i bought 2 ornate leopard wrasses a few weeks ago, saw them a couple times and haven't seen them for a week. does that mean they're all dead?
Not necessarily but likely. Is it possible they're just out of sight in rock?

I love these fish and it broke my heart when I lost mine. They're already so hard to find and to see them (or not see them) die just crushes me.

I've heard of these fish hiding in da sand for 7-10 days. They supposedly come out at night but by this time everyone is asleep. If you don't see him in a day or two I would think that he is dead.

Honestly I've never talked to anyone who's found the corps they just have a tendency to disappear and never be seen again

I thought I had posted mine. I have the opposite of Watchguy hehe but for those interested ... if you see my potters, note the lack of black and absence of the red color on the dorsal fin which I think differentiates the terminal male and that of the female/ juvi male.

I wish I could take pictures like some of you... amazing shots. Here's from my cell.

I have had leopard wrasses hide in the sand for like 5 days when I put them in! they were being harrased by other tank mates... eventually they ended up on the carpet though :( sad...

But I got a black leopard wrasse that could hold his own... for a couple of months at least... also ended up on carpet. **** 6-line. At least they completely annihilated the red flatworms that were infesting my tank. Anyway, here is a pic of one of them:

Man seems like these guys end up either MIA or on the carpet most of the time WTH :0(
Hi Sega, I think once you get them to eat they do fine.
Mine were eating like a hog (after days and days of being MIA hiding in the sand... and coming out only a couple of times a day)...Once they gained confidence, they were doing great.

Unfortunately, a couple of months later, a very aggressive 6-line I had had for years started chasing one of them around, and then the other... until they ended up on carpet. Needless to say after I upgraded, I said bye-bye that six-line troublemaker.
