Hey Guys,
I have a Bubble Magus Skimmer that looks like BM-NAC9 . I bought it used and its on my 120gal tank. I also bought a new pump for it as the old one was leaking current into the tank. At first it was producing skimmate, but for the past months it produces nothing at all!! no matter where I have the water level it does nothing. The sump water is at the mid point of the cone, and I usually keep the inner water level right under the collection cut in the neck of the skimmer. It is seriously bothering me that I cannot figure this out, as its probably something silly. The only thing I can think it may be is, when I first use a filter sock, I get a huge amount of microbubbles for a day or two. I shut the skimmer down and it never skimmed after that!!
Please help Im so frustrated!! I know the tank needs skimming, as my water changes have not been great!!

If it's new pump could be it's less powerful . I have a nac 8 and at first it always went over cup , so it's pretty weird it's not going up

How long have the new pump been installed? If its fairly new, the pump might need a little more time to "slime up" per say...it took my vertex almost a month to start skimming

You can try a vinegar bath and clean it. Also clean out the air intake tube. Sounds like you may not be Dr a wing enough air through your pump. I have a nac9 and it works great. If you have a nac9 on a 120 you don't need to run it all day.

Any chance you can take video of it? I think that'll help folks get closer to the issue rather than stabbing in the dark.

I agree with Omar. Any pictures or videos will help as everyone is just taking guesses. I would think its something Robert said, might not be drawing air into the pump.

I thought it may be the air intake because when I put my finger over the top tube and block it - nothing happens. So I popped off the soft tubing, and when I put my finger over the soft tubing everything stops bubbling. not sure if there is a block or obstruction when I plug the tubing back on.??
