Use to have a 240 and thus I purchased a reef octopus skimmer rated for 500 gallons . I forgot the exact model but it came with the diablo pump. Long story short I moved and was forced to sell the 240 and just bought a 90 gallon SCA at the show. The 90 gallon came with this skimmer: SCA-302 180 gallon Protein Skimmer. Should I use my old skimmer or my new skimmer?
Would it make a big difference ??
The reason I ask is due to the fact that I am about to order a custom sexy *** sump from AA and believe the old skimmer is going to take a lot of real estate in the already small sump. Any input appreciated.

It might be over kill but u could alway set it up on a timer to skimmer a few hours a day. If the pump doesn't have start up issues.

How big is the neck? If it's too large, it might have trouble with the foam head collapsing and not reaching the cup at all. What about the base diameter?

My sca skimmer actually worked really well. When I bought an aquamaxx there wasn't much of a performance difference, just slightly quieter. I'd go with that over a skimmer rated 5.5x the tank volume.
