Added 6 ml of ammonia yesterday. Today I still have ammonia, some nitrites and 0 nitrates. I'm going to give Fritz a few days and see if it starts to pick up the pace. If not I'll be adding dr.tims.

When cycling a tank fishless, do you usually wait for the ammonia to disappear before adding another dose? How fast should a dose of ammonia disappear on a fully cycled system?

Yeah I'm trying that out this time around. I usually go with Dr.Tim's one and only reef bacteria but Brian at AOA suggested Fritz so I gave it a shot. Slightly less ammonia today and more nitrites, still no nitrates.

I decided to add the special grade sand to the tank. I like it, feel like it looks a little more natural. It's blowing around but I rinsed it well enough to where its not clouding up the tank. I finally got around to building a water station. I've had these parts ready to go for my last build but never got around to it. My RO water blaster kept leaking so I swapped it for a mag24 i had in storage. It's way overkill and loud but mixes salt in no time. Its my temp fix until i get the water blaster back in working condition. Also decided to just build a screen top since i had a ton of screen left over from my 100g from BRS. Anyone run into rust issues with those? My 100g had eurobracing so the last one was easy to keep dry, this one is probably going to get splashed a bit more.

I added 3ml of ammonia yesterday to bring the tank to 2ppm. Hasn't been 24 hours but ammonia and nitrite are down to .25ppm. According to the Dr.Tim's fishless cycle guide (here) the tank should be ready for a large water change and some livestock. I'll probably add another 3ml and if its back down tomorrow I'll add a small fire fish or goby. I've ran my ATS from day one, have nitrates in the tank but yet to have algae. Light algae in the ATS, brown diatoms, so i wont be adding a cuc until i notice some.

Thanks, Trung.

I made the screen lid recessed with small slivers of acrylic siliconed to the top. I also siliconed the joints to hopefully help prevent any rust. I'll be keeping a close eye but it looks like its clear of the water even with the pumps up high.

Awesome Alan. My pressure is about 65. If the washer turns on then it drops to about 58. What pressure do you normally run?
I have read the higher the better for lower TDS. With the booster pump my pressure is at 70psi. I had very low pressure prior, about 40.
One thing that is nice about this booster pump is that it flushes the RO membrane each time it's turned on.

I have the Aquaticlife Buddie Booster pump as well and really like it. Originally, I was getting like 65 psi and my primary reason to switch was to reduce waste water. Currently, my waste water is a little more than 1:1.

That auto flush feature would be nice. I'd like to just set it up and forget it, I've already left it in flush and forgot for way too long. The water seems better on this side of garden grove. Going into the membrane I'm getting 8 tds compared to what was 18 at the last house.
