So my new tank is ready to go but it will be another 2 weeks now before it's plumbed and filled because I couldn't get my boyfriend to make the light mounts (bent conduit for Kessils) even though I've been nagging for weeks (or maybe I didn't nag hard enough..). Now he gets that he was the blocker and we could do them tonight but it's too late to have SPS Coral to come tomorrow to plumb it, and next Saturday is totally booked, so my new tank with its awesome rock wall is going to sit dry for 2 more weeks. I'm so bummed out! :( I've spent so much time researching and getting it ready and buying and building stuff that 2 more weeks really sucks!

Just had to vent. And yes, the man feels bad but that doesn't help. :p

Because it's my first tank with a sump and I don't want to screw it up and flood my living room through inexperience.
I would do it myself. Gotta learn sometime. Plus, there's a lot if knowledgeable here to offer advice.

I'll do my next tank myself. :) My schedule really sucks (2.5-3 hours of commuting every day) plus kids, dogs, house... For this first time I'd rather have someone set it up who can deal with any issues that come up instead of me sitting there on Sunday night freaking out that I still haven't been able to finish and it's only half done and I won't be able to work on it until the next weekend no matter what state it's in. I'm all for DIY (I built the sump and the rock wall) but this part's too big and critical for me to want to try it on my own this first time.

Why don't you just see if someone here is willing and able to help plumb it? I don't think the plumbing is all that difficult, but a sump and rock wall THAT looks difficult!

Oh ok .... You adding sand or leaving it like that ? How did you do your back wall ? Might want to add one on mine :)
I'm adding sand, yeah. :) The rock walls are really easy, I have a build thread for the tank where I laid out the process (I'd grab the link but I'm on my phone). It took a few days but mostly because of curing time but overall it's really simple. You just need egg crate, live rock, pond foam, sand, and epoxy to make the wall and silicone to adhere it to the tank.

Titan, I'd hate to back out on SPS now since all of the delays were on my end and Henry even came to the house already to check everything over. It would be crappy of me to go another route now.

If your going to cycle your tank you don't really need the light right away. I offer to plumb it for you if you weren't in BFE..

Yeah why not try plumbing it yourself. It's not too difficult. Dry fit everything first and make sure everything looks right. Glue. Then leak test.

I've set up so many tanks. My current tank had a couple of leaks. All you do is turn off water pump. Dry area that's leaking and add more sealant. Leak test again. No more leaks. You're good to go

I do live in BFE :p I know I don't need the lights but once the tank is filled it'll be too hard to try to mount the hardware to the back. Needs to be done first while we can still get back there. Believe me, I've been trying to get this done (I should have just bent the freaking conduit myself and figured out how to use the Sawzall) but I only want to have to do this stuff once. Otherwise I'd have just hung a wire shelf over the tank and hung the lights from it, but I know the cats will jump on it constantly.

Plumbing is sooooo easy. It's time consuming to do it right, but not hard at all.

And Why are u using bent conduit for your kessils? Don't Kessil sells those sweet light mounts, why don't u just use those?
