The forum police here is very discouraging. I am not even sure I wanna continue posting my progression here. I'll sit on my hands for a few.
You have to understand it was bad arlund here with no mods. Things are better now with less trolls, but the new mods are still new

Well thanks for the words. I appreciate the reply. Just felt alittle attacked by the mods. If i did something wrong i think a warning was warrant but instead he kinda attacked and accused me on first contact and then followed up with more opinions towards my posting. Anyways even though i dont post often i do read often on here but i feel like i will continue on this site. Thanks theMerchant.

What issues are you having with the reeflink?
IT never connects to smart live. Now it says it is connected to another account everytime I do anything. It says it will factory reset and turns off and on again but still says connected to another account. This is happening over and over. When it does go thought I I'm able to get to menu it never connects to ecotech live.

I had the same issue with mine when I bought it used, it was registered to the previous owner and it wouldn't connect to Ecotech Live. You have to call Ecotech tech support for them to hard reset it from their end.

I went with an Ecotech M1 because it was an AIO tank. I understand i could get full use of all the features since it does not have any head height or sump. I talked to my local aquarium supplier and waiting on water delivery tonight. I am ready to get rolling. Last things on my list to do is upgrade mp40W driver to QD driver.

Still tring to figure how i am going to setup a refugium in this thing. Anyone have any suggetions???

Finally got water into tank this weekend. I am soo excited to get cycle started. I used commercial live sand and went with black Hawaiian sand.

So I have a question could I use my surface skimmer/filter sock area as a refugium of chateo and rock rubble?
you can but that area will be a detritus trap since it's the first chamber. Keeping the filtration area in an AIO one is pretty tough so I'd do anything to keep detritus from building up in the chambers in the rear.

from my experience the sock its always clogged and i am not good at washing it. people put them in washer machines but that will never fly in my house. All the sumps i haven seen still collect detritus in them. Thats why i would go with no sand in there and just rubble and macro algae.

I've had an IM 120g All in one and I'd suggest going with mesh socks if you don't want to deal with washing and reusing felt socks. At least with mesh socks you get the larger particles out and all you have to do is flip em inside out and give em a quick rinse. That's what I did in my tank. You're right other sumps will have detritus just like you but that doesn't mean it's a good thing either. Traditional sumps have much more volume and space. That AIO will get pretty dirty fast in the back and then you will run into pumps clogging or spitting out clouds of nastiness. Not to mention when it's time to clean the sump, it's a PITA to reach out back and over. Skip on the rubble and get an acrylic box you can put back there for the macro where the flow is slower. Otherwise, the macro especially Chaeto will break off from the lack of restriction in the first chamber and make its way through the pump, get chopped up and seed itself all over your display. Trust me I know from experience lol. Other than that awesome tank!

the mesh socks is a great option as reefes pieces mentioned. Since it does not trap all the finer particles, what you can do is stuff it with poly filter fiber or sponge in the socks. greatly increase the polishing of the water. You can discard the poly fiber when it gets dirty. You can get a whole bag of poly fiber from Wal-mart for a few dollars. If you are in the anaheim or placentia area i can give you some.
