SoCal Edison is doing major underground and overhead upgrades throughout their system and in some cases it will required outages.. you should be notified by mail...if you're planning to buy a generator this is the time to do it now..sad to say some of this outages could last all day

Go turn it on. U don't have to wait for Edison. I've had mine on for like a month or longer. Make sure the breaker and the disconnect are on then flip the switch

Just a heads up. Last Saturday they performed an 8 hour "planned upgrade" in my area, but neglected to inform me or anyone on our block about it. I was 15 minutes from leaving for the day for my daughter's soccer tournament when our power went out. So I had to miss the tournament so I could add a few battery powered air stones and baby sit my tank.

I was couldn't believe we weren't notified and was thinking my wife might have thrown away the notice but when I called SCE to complain they confirmed without really apologizing that they somehow didn't inform us. I asked for a manager to call me so I could find out how this could possibly happen for a planned outage (errrr... yell at someone other than the poor customer service agent), but 4 days later and predictably no call.

Power did come back on at 2:30 instead of 5pm so that was the lone bright spot. I did download the SCE app that supposedly shows planned outages so maybe that can help someone.

The truth is an unplanned outage could happen at any time and if it caused any problems for me it would sort of be my fault as I don't have a generator or battery backups for my MP40s or the kind of controller that could at least notify me that power is out. So until I can save up a little more money I guess I'm living dangerously.
