So long story short , my friend and I are building sps tanks at the same time. We got two mini colonies and decided to frag them into two pieces each and split the cost.
When he brought over the corals, one Milli and one unidentified, we dipped and "threw" them into my tank. While observing them, we noticed a small hole in one of the Milli branches with something popping in and out. It had no feathering so it isn't a duster.
I grabbed some tools, took the coral back out and started to bore the hole to see what's inside. As it turns out, that Milli branch was hollow with the hole going completely to the base of the branch. I pulled out some type of worm .
Then after looking at the unidentified smooth skin I found numerous other areas similar to this. I am attaching a picture of the hole. It's about 1mm in diameter and the creature seems to have a hard "beak" or mouth. If you look close inside, you can see the line of the beak. Again the coral was hollow on the inside w the cavity going to the middle part of the specimen
Any ideas of what this is ??
