I've been wanting to start growing sps for a while but I've always heard they are much harder to care for. I've been growing a couple of montis because I heard they are much easier and a small pocillopora which have all been doing well. (Until recently the pocillopora lost most of its color:shocked:) So is there much of a difference to growing sps than growing lps and leathers? Or maybe some good beginner sps corals? Any help is appreciated!

Birds nest is easy but I'd investigate why the poci lost its color first. Sps is all about stability and having the right equipment to sustain it

I have some birdsnest you can have a frag when I stop by Coral Gazers in Tustin. Keeping SPS requires a multitude of things depending on the species of SPS you want to keep. The most important things I have learned are-

Stability/Consistency in water parameters (Alk, Ca, Mg, PH)
Lighting - Many of the nicer SPS require high powered lighting (Mh T5 LED)
Flow- Lots of water flow in the tank.

Those 3 are a trifecta to keeping SPS healthy and thriving!

Don't forget the equalizer - controlled temperature!

dont forget $$$$ it always helps
but my opinion is dont over feed, lots of hater changes until you figure out dosing but dont love your tank to death by overdosing

Well I feel they are a temperamental coral and you have to stay up on water changes because the second you forget one water change they will begin to go down hill. They really arent super hard I wouldnt say.
