Looking for a blue squamosa clam or a squamosa with nice colors if anyone has one. Let me know. Thanks!

Not too many squammies right now, but hopefully more clams will come in soon? Be prepared to pay more for a blue squammie, they're not cheap.

Yeah I definitely haven’t seen much around lately. I know the blues do cost more, but they are nice haha…

I stopped by Ali’s shop yesterday and he had some awesome clams. Cultured maximas from ORA that were really nice and he had some amazing wild maximas from Australia that were stunningly unique. They had posted them as squamosas when he ordered them, but they’re clearly maximas. Most of them had pastel purple blotching throughout the mantle. The green ORA maxima is super cool. If I had the cash with me I would’ve bought it yesterday. He also has a cultured gigas and a couple derasas. The blue Aussie maxima was pretty cool, the purple ones were awesome!

Yes, definitely he has some nice clams and the Australians are more hardy. , I was more looking for specifically squamosa so had to ask around. Guess it’s just not squamosa season yet. Have to wait a few months since clams seem to come in once the CB batches spawn and have time to grow.

I know clam mania has some bigger ones currently. You have to email them separately, but I think they go for like $150-200 from them. The smaller croceas (1-2 inches) typically have a lower survival rate from my experience. If I see a hippopus, I’ll let you know.

Yeah, it depends if they are wild caught or cultured. I find most cultured clams do well, but wild caught, depending on location, have a pretty low survival rate. Tahitian maxima come to mind. I've found it's a matter of providing enough light, especially with croceas and maximas. If there's no new shell growth with those two particular species, they don't survive for very long regardless of size. The only wild caught clams that I'll buy are Aussie clams and T. noae, but they need to be in tip top shape and have shell growth. Otherwise, you're just throwing away money.
