Just a little pole for the people who use dosers. Do you use a single doser controlled by a controller or do you use and all in one doser that has a built in controller?

Why did you pick what you use?

I use the BRS dosers. The two reasons are first cost and then I already had the apex so it was just a matter of programming to get it working. I like them alot

Part of me want to setup a stand alone doser so that I can free up 2 outlets on my EB8.

I'm apex illiterate... just as tofucube... but another thought is better to not have all your eggs in one basket. I just read a post from Crystal saying her Apex malfunctioned and left her halides on for 2 or 3 days straight.

yup..i agree..never like to rely on just one piece of equipment. it fails and it's over... tank crash city.

Even if you have multiple pieces of equipment, one of them failing can still be tank crash city. Like BeanMachine said above, the apex failed and left lights on. If you have a standalone doser it can fail and over dose. Once you start depending on electronics you run the risk of something failing and visiting tank crash city.

to @solitude247 another thing, if you go with BRS dosers they should be on the #4/8 plugs on your EB8... so if those are already being used by lower power devices you would need an EB4 or another EB8 (or an old cheap DC4).

I used drews dosers before and was happy with them, but now I am going to be dosing/auto water changing from my garage so I needed pumps that would be able to push further.

everything can fail whether you have it all together on an apex or stand alone like a doser. Anything can ruin your tank. I destroyed my doser when it was drenched with water and malfunctioned emptying my alk into my tank. It didn't fail, i failed it lol

not if you have multiple fail safes. that's why i always like to have different pieces of equipment who's sole purpose is to stop other equipment in case it fails ; )

Like what? You have a light detector to make sure your lights aren't on when they aren't supposed to be? :)

Yup any electronic device can fail at any time. My ghl doser pump#2 got stuck somehow and dosed all the calcium in my tank. Luckily it wasnt alk! Now idk if i should settle for a jebao doser

I do so : p vince...lmao....luckily it only had to kick in once. The other fail safe for lights is the temp probe that turns off lights if temp in tank gets too high

I have everything running through my apex, including temp too high alarms/lights off junk. emails for this and that, etc etc... ive already been to tank crash city a couple times thanks to stupid power outages. im sure ill be back some day...

I need to look into those light sensors!

And here's a tip...have them connected to battery backups so even if power goes out, you can run your lights and sensors also. Thats why I dont run my lights off my apex anymore like I used to. Thats when I had the temp probe shut them off only if too hot but this is more convenient and I dont have to worry about one piece of equipment failing hence what I said earlier...of course people will laugh because if they havent seen it with their eyes, it must not exist. Lmao
