Thought I'd share my stand build for my 60 gallon Tank 48x16. I have been working on it for the pass week. It's been a steady progress but since its my first build I wasn't in rush to finish. I used 7 2x4's and #8 2 1/2 wood screws for the structure. And a good quality plywood for the panels. I wanted to build a bigger stand for my sump since I bought a 40 gallon sump and had very limit space in my current stand to work with. Here are some pics. I'm almost done just need to add trim, sand and stain. Also I'm going to add a removable front panel for the door. I'll post more pics when I complete it

Thanks. It's very rewarding when you DIY plus everything was under a $100.00 bucks. Can't want to finish it.

That looks great! Probably going to have to DIY one for a new tank I just picked up. I'll be taking a good look at your design. Thanks for posting this up.

Yeah its pretty easy but I did have to make a correction. If you look at the first 4 pictures the 2x4's the in inside corners was too long. I had to cut them down as displayed in the 5th picture. The reason was the weight of the tank would of been on those beams instead of the top platform. Now the weight of the tank can be evenly distributed. There are 2 2x4's wedge in all 4 corners to support the weight.

I noticed that in the first shots then when I saw the reinforcements I liked that the best. It cuts off some internal space but that thing isn't gonna bow an inch. Nice work all around.

Finally done with the trim and front panel. I didn't want doors cause I wanted to maximize my front entrance like the back. Here are some pics. I just need to sand and stain. I used heavy duty magnets to keep the door in place. Works really good

Yep, wanted to be able to just pop off the front door completely!
