I'm pretty set on the dimensions of my new tank-

72 x 36 x 27

How tall would you make the stand? I am leaning towards 40", but curious what everyone else thinks.

Either way I'll need a stool for maintenance. I am about 5'10" if that makes a difference.

Also, what silicone color would you go with? I think black is the way to go.

I'm 5'7" and my stand is 36"H. Any higher and it's too high for me. Preference is key, but you being 5'10" i think 40"H is perfect. Black silicone on dark stand looks best.

The 2" Stainless Steel Trim top and bottom will be powder coated Gray. Also the steel stand. I wanted something a little different than black or white.

If your sump looked like arodmcinco , clear doors would look good.
It won't look like that in the beginning that is for sure! I am already breaking my piggy bank with this tank and stand. I may do something temporary before I can afford a nice sump.

I'd make the stand height whatever height it needs to be so that your eye level is around 10" from the surface of the water.

My eye level is 64" so you are saying the top of the tank should be at 74". That would make the stand 47" tall. That would be way to high in my opinion. Not too mention I need to hang lights and have room to work. The ceilings are 8 feet.

LOL that's really tall. My tank waterline is eye level. I don't like it. If I sit down in front, My eye level is somewhere between the middle of the tank and the waterline and I love it. I never measured it to give you a precise height.

Also, if I had to do it again, I'd do a regular canopy. I have a low profile floating canopy that I love aesthetically. But it's not functional. I have to hang a towel on the side of the tank so when you're sitting on the couch you're not blinded by the light spillage.

I'm 5'11" and my stand is 40" tall I believe. It's a great height. I also have a pocket door which is super convenient too.

If I had it all to do over, I wouldn't use halides in the summer...
