How do you guys make sure you don't have any stray electricity in your tank? I heard of a few things but with setting up my new tank I want to do it right.

Like Matt says you can use a multimeter. I had a stray voltage issue some time ago and ended up buying and using a titanium grounding probe. $8 I think. There's some difference of opinion on grounding probes in general but I've had good luck and would recommend it.

I just had that problem with my skimmer. Just get a meter put one and in the ground of your house and the other and of the meter in the water.

Thanks for the comments, I didn't even think of using a multimeter to test for voltage in the water. I will have to try that. I did find the titanium grounding rod on amazon and I'm thinking about buying one. It has mixed reviews... What are your thoughts?
