Does anyone have any comments about Strictly Fish (6903 Carson, Lakewood, CA. 90713)? It's fairly close to my house and considering buying some corals from them.

Thanks.

their price is normally 30~50% higher than other LFS. sometimes double. also they dont have good knowledge of their stocks. I asked them 3 times about nudibranch, I got all three differents answers. after that I prefer trade with people. people in this forum have way better knowledge and better price. people are very generous. why dont you post what you want?

Well, I don't know what I want yet for one; more like planning for the future. Still trying to get the algae in my tank under control before I add more corals/fish.

But when I am ready, i'm thinking I will start here :)

yeah... stick with the forums... or go to carson tropical fish on norwalk and carson blvd... it's like half a mile away...

the owner tom is awesome... gives the deals and has some high end corals sometimes... sometimes... you'll see a bunch of socalireefers in there all the time...

You can tell they're SoCaliReefers by the way they look? That's good....

I have a twin stalk of Pulsing Xenia if you want it. I'm at Studebaker and Second St.

What's your algae problem?

I wouldn't buy inverts such as shrimp for example. The workers there scoop them up in a net and shake them out or in come cases sling them out damaging their antenna's etc... Maybe it would be better to get the help of some of the older workers, they might be better than the younger people working there. Good selection on fish, better to wait for the weekend sales they have every month or so where its about 33% off livestock.

Well, my algae problem seems to be getting better. I've only had the tank up and running for about 4 months, the first month with nothing but water, sand and LR.

I added a large turbo snail and another hermit a little over a week ago and it seems to be getting under control now. I did have a lot of slimey looking film over everything. I still have a few places with what looks like brown hair algae though.

sklywag - Do you have a pic of the xenia?

I will check out the SCRK forum...just being here there's apparently a lot of reefers living very close to me :)

The Xenia looks like Xenia. Pink, kind of fleshy tone. And pulses. And free to you if you want it. Won't be attatched to anything since I'll be scraping it off the front glass of my tank.

I got 4 Coral Cats this past weekend for $15 I think. Then consider the free T, so it was a deal I think.

That sounds great, how big is it? I only have a 28g tank, but if it fits i'm game.

Thanks!
