Thinking I'm going to go for it. DIY has been done for a while now. 20 gallon glass no baffles being replace with 24 gallon acrylic with a couple of baffles. Have five gallons of water to add when done. Heater in it to bring temp up. Gone through the senario in my head a few times and held fittings in place with new plumbing configuration. Only have live rock, skimmer and return to deal with. Looks, sounds, and should be quick and simple. But it's reefing and The Lord likes to test might patience and tongue to see where it's really at.
But the couch and a cup of coffee needing refilled is easier to deal with. There is always tomorrow. Decisions.

keep an eye on your levels, that much new surface area can maybe lead to a nutrient build up due to disturbing the balance of it all.

Hmm.... Never considered surface area and levels. But I swapped out a 12x30 to 10x36 which is the same square inches. Which I only just figured out with a calculator. I'm slow. Anyway. Hard plumbed it. Waited for it to dry. Started it back up and was pretty stoked. Sitting there looking at it. Then.................... Call me a freak. I think after years of having clear tubing I was in withdraws not seeing water go through my plumbing. Sitting there for a few minutes more. I close valves unplug things and grab the the pipe cutters and cut it apart.

Should have taken pictures for you guys that like pictures but didn't. I did of finished project. I think seeing little half inch pipe is what made me change it back to 3/4" tube although the return bulkhead is only 1/2" and it stays that way upto lock line. Have no idea why pictures come out sideways.
