SO I am soooo excited about this that I just want to tell everybody haha. Maybe some people will find it interesting =)

I have been addicted to clownfish for a while and have been hoping to get into the breeding scene. I figured I would share my experience =) I am an EXTREME beginner so beware haha. I currently have nine pairs:

  • Platinum x Platinum
  • Onyx x Platinum
  • Onyx x Onyx
  • Misbar/Semi-Onyx x Regular Percula
  • Gold Stripe Maroon x Gold Stripe Maroon
  • Darwin x Black Ice
  • Naked Ocellaris x Naked Ocellaris
  • Darwin x Extreme Snowflake
  • Darwin x Regular Ocellaris
**I apologize in advance for the terrible pics. I was in such a hurry to try and capture this that I didn't do a very good job haha**

Here is my broodstock system:

Last month (July 2011) my Onyx x Onyx pair laid their first clutch. I of course was on vacation and missed this =( They have laid two more clutches since. Although the male keeps eating most of the eggs, I attempted to raise what was left of the second clutch (around 19 eggs). In all 5 eggs hatched. 4 of the fry died within the first 24 hours. 1 lone survivor made it to about 40 hours. Not quite what I was hoping for, but it happens. The male ate all of the eggs of the latest clutch, so not sure when I will get another chance to try and raise the fry.

Here is the pair with the clutch I tried to raise:

This week, my Onyx x Platinum pair laid their first clutch. The male ate all the eggs within the first 24 hours. I know this is common with the first few clutches, but I hope this trend doesnt continue!

Here is the pair with their first clutch:

This is an exciting new venture for me! Hopefully, I can get the hang of it

Nice, keep us updated. I understand that there are quite a few people who are breeding, so its great that you are sharing. Good Luck, and keep your faith.....you built it, the fry will come!!

Can you share pics of the system, filtration, Grow out, etc?

Good Luck!!

Very nice broodstock!
Thank you! I started aquiring them before I ever intended on breeding. I have always loved all the different morphs of clowns they have now. Really looking forward to ORA's new Black Snowflakes.

Do you have any picasso clowns for sale? I need to find a mate for my picasso clown.
Sadly I do not =( I should have some hatching out soon though!

Ya I have heard that too. But I have been reading about some breeders who have males that always eat the eggs no matter what :a42:. For some reason they are just confused or something haha. Hopefully this is not the case with my male! I'm hoping that he gets with the program soon haha.

beautiful pairs... great set up.. love the plumbing!... i'm jealous of that onyx female!...
Haha thanks you made it possible with that tank! I really lucked out with that female she is pretty amazing  Feel free to jump in and share some of your breeding wisdom!!
